Learning an instrument from scratch: lessons vs self-taught?
For someone in his mid-20s who has never learned an instrument before, what is the best action to learn to play music? If self-taught, it can recommend a particular method? I have a low, but I am also interested in learning to play other instruments like drums, accordion, mandolin, etc. In addition, courses in music theory are beneficial for learning an instrument, or that these courses must be taken after it was competent enough to play an instrument?
It is better to learn from an instructor who knows how to teach instruments of specifics. When teaching, you could be teaching bad, but you never know. It is best to take lessons from someone who knows what they do.
